Wellness Week - Time “Well” Spent

February 22 – 26, 2010

Smoke Tree Ranch presents its third annual Wellness Week, encouraging participants to embrace life-long learning and personal wellness. This program is designed to offer participants a focus on balance and healthy living, with a variety of lectures, healthy cuisine, exercise, and stretching options for all ages.

We are pleased once again to present Dr. Renata Bodden, Master Tai-Chi instructor, and Ron Splude, yoga master and Colonist favorite, for early morning Yoga and Stretching Class, along with weight and strength training sessions, water aerobics, and invigorating hikes which take advantage of the therapeutic views of our desert. In addition to a circuit training session, trainer Dave Provins will give a presentation on “Reversing your Biological Age,” discussing how to look and feel younger, take control of the aging process and your metabolism, and the biggest mistake you can make that will negatively impact your overall health.

 

Wellness Week

By popular request, Beth Mulligan will expand her program this year to, where she will teach us how to utilize meditation in various aspects of our lives. In addition to Chef Tony’s quest to provide delicious, health-conscious meals for the week, “I Can’t Believe It’s Vegan!” vegetarian cuisine will be on the menu for an off-site lunch at the Palm Greens Café in Palm Springs. We are also excited about a docent-guided hike and picnic at the new Whitewater Preserve.

Dr. Billy Mallon, world-renowned speaker and Smoke Tree favorite, will join us again with his combination of humor and intelligence to talk about “Statin Drugs” and “Everything you ever wanted to know about the Flu: Swine, Bird, Spanish, Seasonal, Etc.” Dr. Tracy Conrad will join our fireside chats this year with discussions on “Food Matters – the truth about what you eat” and “Bioidentical hormone replacement for anti-aging and wellness.” Fireside lectures will include hors d’oeuvres, with a “no host” bar available.
