Always Best Care Senior
Services were proud sponsors of the HOPE (Humanitarianism, Outreach and Preservation for Employees) Golf Tournament - Providing help to Eisenhower Medical Center employees in time of need. As part of ABC's sponsorship, a 53" inch Always Best Care Bear was raffled. The lucky winner got to transport this life size bear from the event that was held at Desert Willow Golf Resort on September 10, 2011 to their vehicle. Ms. Becky Heslop won the drawing as seen in this photo.

Also, this month we will be participating at the following events: Palm Desert Chamber Business Expo, Joslyn Senior Center Health Fair in Palm Desert, Baptist Church Health Fair in Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs Health Fair, Veteran's Day Expo, and the famous Golf Cart Parade for the Coachella Valley. Make sure to come by and visit us!

Please feel free to contact me directly for any more information on our upcoming events.

Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's Disease or Dementia at home is challenging and can be stressful at times. For this reason, it is very important that our caregivers be trained on how to provide respect, preserve dignity and be sensitive to the personal needs of our clients.

Our caregivers attended a virtual sensitivity training put on by Kae Hammond of the Dementia Help Center. The three hour course gave them a better understanding of how someone with Dementia is affected by seemingly normal every day things. Due to the positive feedback we received from those who attended the training, we will be scheduling more of these training sessions for the caregivers in the months to come.

Always Best Care has recently launched an Employee of the Month Program. The qualities we look for in Caregiver Employee of the Month are flexibility of schedule, caring manner, communication, positive attitude, and wanting to make people's lives better.

We would like to congratulate Lupita Espinoza for being the Employee of the Month for September 2011. Lupita has been working with Always Best Care since March 2011. Lupita's co-workers and clients would describe her as always having a smile. Her positive attitude and professionalism make an impression on everyone she encounters. Congratulations Lupita!

Bonnie's Blog

For those of you that know me then know that I am not very tech savvy and I make no excuses for it. I am just not one of those individuals that keep up with the latest gadget or gizmos. I really don't know what tweeting is about and you'll rarely catch me sending a text. In fact, I have never blogged in my entire life, and now I must create my own blog for our monthly newsletter. I don't know even know where to begin.

As I sit here at my desk starring at my computer...O.K., who am I fooling - I mean as I lay in my bed starring at my blank paper while holding my old fashion fountain pen (remember those?). I am thinking to myself what should I write about that would interest my readers, and then my mind starts drifting to why did I even take an interest in this profession of caring for seniors? Then, I reflect on a thank you card that I recently received. A woman writes to me letting me know that she is very grateful that I helped her find a good assisted living placement for her dad. She writes, "My experience with Always Best Care has been nothing but positive and reassuring during what could have been a most stressful time. Your professional expertise and personal care make for such a wonderful gift to me and others like me who want the best care for our parents." Of course, then I remember that I went into this profession hoping to touch the lives of seniors by making a difference in the quality of care they receive. When I see how their lives have changed for the betterment, I know exactly why I chose this profession.

It is eight o'clock in the evening and my phone is ringing - I shall be right back...Sorry, but I must start my blog at another time because I just received a call from a family member needing in home care for her grandmother.

Till then, always there...Always Best Care.

Thought for the Day

"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have."
